Mike Kasongo is a self-taught artist born in Kinshasa, D.R. Congo, and now based in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada. His work bridges worlds, blending African heritage with the timeless elegance of European Neoclassical art.
Beginning with graphite, Mike honed his skills by studying the subtleties of human expression. Transitioning to oil painting in 2017, he has since embarked on a continuous exploration of ideas and techniques, delving deeper into his own psyche and cultural roots, using oil painting as a primary medium.
Through his art, Mike invites viewers into thoughtful conversations about the human condition, offering reflections that transcend borders and celebrate our shared humanity —all viewed through the lens of a modern African man shaped by rich traditions, global experiences, and a deep appreciation for the human journey.
